Persepolis

Persepolis, ( Farsça: تخت جمشید/پارسه, Takht-e Jamshid / Taht-ı Cemşid) İran'ın Şiraz şehrinin hemen doğusundadır. Pers İmparatorluğu 'nun başkenti olan Persepolis, M.Ö. 6. yüzyıl sonlarına doğru Pers Kralı I. Darius (Dara) tarafından kurulmuştur. Darius'dan sonra tahta çıkan Kserkes I (Xerxes) ve Artakserkses (Ardaşir) şehri büyüterek harika anıtlarla doldurmuşlardır.
